The Surfers' Hall of Fame honors legends of surfing with their handprints, footprints and signatures immortalized in the sidewalk in front of Huntington Surf & Sport, similar to Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. Its centerpiece, a life-size bronze statue of Duke Kahanamoku, the father of modern surfing, was created by Edmund Shumpert in 2001. Annually, famous surfers from around the globe are invited to a celebration in which inductees' handprints and footprints and autographs are placed in cement stones surrounding the statue in the outdoor plaza. The Surfers' Hall of Fame is a popular location for taking souvenir photographs.
