The Huntington Beach Surf Theatre Film Festival is devoted to bringing the most current wide range of surf films to the public. Surf filmmakers are specialists who have a commitment to the ocean and surfing and have done their part to capture it on film. Big Red Productions will recognize these efforts by awarding the following categories: Best Corpo Video, Best Independent Filmmaker, Most Innovative, Best Cinematography, and Hot Grom Short (under 15 Minutes). A diverse panel of surf film experts, journalists and Hollywood producers will judge the films based on standardized criteria.
Setting the tone at the peak of the season for new releases, the Surf Theatre Film Festival has been dubbed the "Golden Globes" of surfing.
