Huntington Beach Residents "Show Their HB" in Local Photo Contest
Huntington Beach, Calif., May 11, 2008 – Huntington Beach residents submitted more than 100 photographs in the first annual "See My HB" Photo Contest sponsored by the Huntington Beach Conference and Visitors Bureau (HBCVB).
"See My HB" Photo Contest judges included local photographer Robert Garcia, Huntington Beach Art Center director Kate Hoffman and Todd Ventura of Bill's Cameras. Quality, uniqueness and visual appeal were considered when selecting the images for exhibition. Huntington Beach residents; John Bergman, Joan Buckholtz, Katie Boucher, J. Les Gainous, Al Gerk, Jerri Johnson, James Melton, Andrew Schmidt, Daniel Simmons, Christa Stout and Sue Webb submitted the Top 25 photos. Click here for top 25 photos.
"The residents of Huntington Beach were asked to capture what they truly love and treasure about the City," said Doug Traub, HBCVB president/CEO. "The photos we received definitely depict Huntington Beach as the ideal destination for surf, sand, sun and fun!"
The top 25 photos are on exhibit on the main floor of the Huntington Beach Central Library, 7111 Talbert Avenue, through May 31, 2008.
In addition to the exhibit, contest photos may also be featured in future HBCVB promotional pieces including brochures, visitors guide, advertisements and website pages.
The contest, which ran March 10-April 30, was held in conjunction with National Tourism Week (NTW), May 10-18, 2008. Congress first designated National Tourism Week in May 1984. During this time, communities and states throughout the United States organize annual celebrations recognizing and promoting the value of travel and tourism.
All photo entrants received a Surf City USA&ref logoed sling pack, with an approximate retail value of $15.00.
YouTube® Video Contest Deadline Extended
The HBCVB "See My HB" YouTube Video Contest deadline is extended until May 18, 2008.Residents can enter their videos for a chance to win Huntington Beach prizes, including two first-place packages that include surfing lessons or spa treatments, as well as the opportunity to be a part of the 104th Annual Huntington Beach 4th of July Parade. First-place video prize packages are valued at over $400 each. Additional prize packages include gift certificates to local restaurants and shopping venues. Winning videos may be linked to, and posted on, www.surfcityusa.com.
